This is terrific. Jerry McKinney is one of the best writers I've come across lately. Lifting the hair from the back of your neck, chilling your blood, haunting your dreams -- his stories do that and more.

I seldom give out plot points when I review and I won't now.

This is a different take on werewolves. And it's terrifying. I loved it. The characters are well-drawn and you will care what happens to them. The descriptions are spot-on.

There were a few punctuation and grammatical errors. Not many, but enough that I noticed. I'm also a lot more likely to notice these things than many other people.

I can wholeheartedly recommend this short story. It's a killer -- in the good way.

This is the story of Mack and Joe and a little girl who comes into town once a week. Mack is curious to know why she comes into town and asks Joe. Joe admits he knows about her and where she lives. He also knows why she comes into town each week, he begins to tell Mack the story...

Once again, a thought provoking story from Jerry. A story that takes you on a slow build to a truly shocking and totally unexpected ending. I don't know how Jerry keeps doing this but each story I read gets better and better. I care about all the characters, good and bad and want to know what happens to them. Great stuff, more please.
This is a great short story. Well written. It draws the reader in from the start. Who knows what goes on in a small town. Most have secrets, some have creepy secrets.

Wonderfully written story about a town and it's people who have a lot to bear. Characters that you will love, hate and be curious about. Highly recommended read for lovers of mystery, horror and the unknown.
Author Jerry W. McKinney is fast becoming one of my favorite voices in horror. So many other reviewers have discussed the great story here, I'd like to focus on what I think is one of the most interesting titles that I've seen. Lycanthropy is the professed ability or power of a human being to transform into a wolf, or to gain wolf-like characteristics. Now that you are armed with that knowledge, you can take at his short story, Lie Canthropy, and see the prominent use of the word "lie" as part of the twist on this one. Well done!
Thank you Jerry for creeping me out again with another one of your fantastic short stories! I don't know which one of your stories is my favorite. This small town was going along fine until all of the little twisted elements came into play and I was like wow, you done it again!! I'm visualizing Mayberry (small town, close neighbors)while reading this book and now, Mayberry will never be the same to me.

Mack is quietly working in a barber shop keeping Joe company while doing the grunt work and out of the corner of his eye, he sees the little girl who makes her weekly trip to the butcher shop. Mack is so curious about this wild child with the pink jacket who runs into town weekly to buy from the butcher that he becomes obsessed with tracking her down. Joe ends up telling Mack the history of the town and why they have the Full Moon Dances and this is where the story gets interesting. I'm not giving the story away, but a great story line here. What happens at the dances and what if you don't attend? Mack's quest for the pink jacket girl is revealed when he discovers he is part of the group of 6 which keeps the curse at bay.

I love Jerry's choice of words and his dialogue with the characters make the book feel so realistic. "Tangled hair bounced with each step, her dirty face only cleaned by the tracks of tears." (little girl)

I will definitely read this book again and share it with others - creepy and mysterious.

I read this book a while back and forgot to do the review. Jerry has a way with words and images. I love the play on words Jerry uses as the title of this book as the book is not really about lycanthropes but it is a 'lie'. The people of this small town are under a 'curse' and are only free of it when a young or maybe she's very old...anyway a stranger brings a child to town and explains to them how they can be 'cured' of the curse. But is the price to high? Maybe. Lie Canthropy
